Max Brenner Impresses With Chocolatey Experience

By Raquel Santana ’16

If you’re a chocolate lover, Max Brenner will satisfy your taste buds. Even if you’re not a big fan of chocolate, Max Brenner will still make your mouth water.

Max Brenner is a worldwide restaurant that is well known for their famous chocolate desserts. It originated in Ra’anana, Israel, and made its way to operate in over 50 locations internationally; the majority are in Australia. The menu contains a variety of dishes from the tastiest mac and cheese, to the finest steak, to the best burgers and fries in town, and not to mention the desserts that are to die for.

You can smell the sweet air from the moment you open the door. The chocolate themed decorations are the first things that catch your eye. As soon as you enter and look towards the ceiling, you notice tubes filled with real chocolate that surrounds the bar.

Since there is only one Max Brenner in New York, located on 847 Broadway, it’s always busy. Making reservations ahead of time is highly suggested to avoid the long line, unless you don’t mind waiting over an hour. Also, due to the fact that it’s always busy, the service isn’t the best. The price range is about $30 per person, depending on what you order. Although the service isn’t the greatest, and it’s a bit overpriced, the quality of the food is definitely worth it.

The most common dessert ordered is the Classic European Chocolate Fondue, a romantic share for two priced at $22.95, which is served with strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, and of course chocolate sauce. Another popular dessert is the S’mores Crepe priced at $13.95, served with graham crackers, hazelnut spread, marshmallows, and vanilla ice cream. There’s espresso and lattes available with a shot of liquor. They even have a kids menu with the most creative names, such as: Escaping Pasta Robes, The Bucket Mess Chicken Fingers, and The Bowl Scribble of Two little Mouth Cheeseburgers, $9 each. They also have a Huge Chocolate Syringe that is a needle that squirts chocolate directly into your mouth, price at $4.75.

My personal favorite is the Brenner Burger, for $14.25, topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, and barbeque sauce. Their mac and cheese is also a satisfaction, as well as the waffle fries which can be a side to almost any dish.
